Mohawk High School junior Cris Colaluca’s dream is getting closer to reality.
The teen, who has spina bifida along with a rare seizure disorder and attends school remotely with the help of a Vgo robot, was recently featured by author and tax guru Eva Rosenberg as well as the National Italian American Foundation.
Last fall, Colaluca teamed with Make-A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia to donate another Vgo to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to be used by patients at the facility. It was actually his Plan B. Initially, Colaluca had wanted to start a foundation to help other teens in similar circumstances acquire Vgos.
Although Make-A-Wish wasn’t able to fulfill that request, his first choice came to the attention of Rosenberg, a writer, blogger and radio personality known as “Tax Mama,” according to Colaluca’s mother, Terry.
Rosenburg mentioned the local youth in her latest book, “Deduct Everything,” featured him on her Web site, http://deducteverythingbook.com, and plans to help him start his foundation, Terry said.
In addition, NIAF featured Colaluca on its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages last week as an inspirational Italian American.
